Introduction
to CELEA Journal
CELEA Journal (formerly known as Teaching
English in China is the academic journal of China English Language
Education Association, founded in 1981. It is co-published by
Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and The Cultural
and Education Section, British Embassy. It is the only ELT journal
in China that is published in English. Other ELT journals in China
all publish in Chinese. The journal was fist created in 1978 as
a newsletter and got its ISSN (1005-538X) in 1993. About 25,000
copies are circulated each issue. It is a window to Chinese reform
on ELT for professionals in China and around the world. By the
end of 2005, it has published 64 issues altogether. During the
early years, almost all the articles in the journal were written
by British professionals, but with the development of ELT in China,
more and more articles are written by Chinese teachers of English.
The journal has been published bimonthly with 128 A4-pages .since
2004
Articles contributed to the journal will go
through three blind reviews. Please write your name, affiliation,
mailing address, telephone, fax and other information on a separate
page instead of putting them right under the title of your paper.
The contributuion should include a 100-word abstract and 3-5 key
words. The paper should have around 4000-6000 words.
The journal is non-profitable. No royalty
is given to the contributors. Two copies of the issue where the
contributor’s article appear will be mailed to the contributor.
